As part of Lambrook’s Partnership work with around 60 local State schools, we regularly welcome pupils to learn alongside our children. Over the past few years, we have had Modern and Ancient Language Days, sporting events, Music and Choir Workshops, Maths competitions and STEM challenges, to name but a few.

Earlier in the Year, we were delighted to welcome several local Primary Schools for one of our Partnership Events. The Netball Festival, which was run by Lambrook staff, began with skills training and ended with a round-robin 7 aside competition. The ‘Festival of Sport’ involved children from Years 5 and 6, and gave pupils the experience of training with and then playing against a range of different opposition schools. It was a wonderful opportunity for all players to be able to learn skills from one another.

We welcomed a Year Group from one of our Partner Schools to join our Year 2 children for the morning. The children spent their time together in workshops led by Lambrook Staff, where they had a focus on Habitats. Honing old skills and learning new ones, the children rotated around several activities, as well as fitting in time for a snack together and a play on our adventure playground.

We were fortunate to welcome 23 local schools to Lambrook on a rainy afternoon to take part in an exciting range of Mathematical challenges under timed conditions. The young mathematicians quickly immersed themselves in all things numbers related, answering questions that varied from super quick arithmetic to solving geometric and logic problems – it was fantastic to witness the pace and speed (and noise) with which each round was completed. We had a group of Lambrook Year 7 pupils who worked hard to support the event; not only were they marking the contestants’ questions, but they were having to work out the answers at the same time so that they could mark them accordingly!

Following the success of a similar event last year, Lambrook welcomed several local schools to sing together, including a Lambrook Choir. The children had a delicious breakfast in the Dining Room before our Lambrook pupils escorted the visiting schools to the DJC ready for an exciting morning of music making. e children spent the morning in workshops led by Lambrook staff, where they honed old skills and learned new ones, relishing the opportunity to sing alongside one another as they sang fun warm-ups, songs and rounds.

The grand finale was a concert in the DJC, where each school performed their own rehearsed piece and then a joint choral work which they had been learning throughout the morning. This piece was written by one of our members of staff and was rather fittingly entitled, ‘Raise our Voice’.
