At the end of last week, group of Year 5 pupils headed to Senior School Bradfield College to spend an afternoon immersed in Science activities and challenges. Pupils from Prep Schools from around the country were able to experience several intriguing and exciting activities across the three sciences of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

“It was fantastic to see them throwing themselves as a team into the subject areas with great focus and collaboration.” Head of Science

The challenges included data analysis of various types, accurate use of microscopes, and creativity as they constructed their own loud speaker. Alongside each of these tasks the pupils answered challenging questions related to each activity. The work was all collected, tested and marked by some helpful 6th Form Bradfield students who were on hand throughout the afternoon.

“The competition gave the pupils the chance to put their science learning into action with the hands on practical activities that they were tasked with. Having the opportunity to put science into action in practical ways is always a great way to cement learning and is what we do in so many of our Science lessons here at Lambrook.”Head of Science

After heading out to enjoy some whizz-bang demonstrations from the Bradfield science teachers, the headmaster came to announce the winners. The Lambrook pupils were overjoyed to receive this year’s trophy, which was a fine reward for their focus and dedication to the tasks throughout the afternoon.
